What is a Start-Up Visa?

The Start-Up Visa is a federal immigration pathway for entrepreneurs seeking to establish a new or existing business in Canada, supported by a designated entity such as a business incubator or investor. Applications under the SUV pathway typically take 43 months to process from the time they are received by IRCC.

Who qualifies?

  • Up to 5 co-applicants with shared business ownership

  • Minimum 10% of shares held by each applicant

  • Combined 50% ownership between applicants and designated entity

  • Proof of language proficiency (CLB 5 or higher)

  • Settlement funds (based on family size)

  • Commitment Certificate and Letter of Support from a designated entity

  • A qualifying business and strong business plan
